Festivities continue surrounding the Marist International Sports Week with a traditional ‘ava ceremony at the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel on Thursday in preparation for the much-anticipated Vailima Marist International Sevens at Apia Park this weekend. 

The Government of Samoa has donated $20,000 to the Marist St. Joseph's Sports Club for the 29th Vailima Marist Samoa International Sevens.

As the boxing comes to an end at the Marist International Sports Week, international boxers thank Samoa, and hope to return soon.


Former Australian Olympic boxing coach Bodo Andreas with the Prime Minister of Samoa and Patron of Marist St. Joseph's Sports Club, Hon. Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi who were discussing support for school boxing programme, and the inclusion of women in boxing development programmes as well as training clinics for Samoa Amateur Boxing Association (SABA) officials.

Director of the Fight for Marist Boxing Tournament, Tavui Mike Lemisio and former Australian Olympic boxing coach, Bodo Andreas toured the island of Savaii on Tuesday after the success of the Marist’s boxing event last weekend. The two visited Don Bosco College to address the children and generate grassroots interest in boxing as part of the Prime Minister’s new initiative to revive interest in the sport.
