The Club’s grassroot rugby development program saw a steady increase of kids registered and regularly attend the twice weekly program now in its third year. Last season recorded some 64 enthusiastic young kids from age 8 to 14 years attended the program.

The program was to open the opportunity and  introducing young rugby players by developing them with skills and tactical concepts of rugby in a safe and fun manner with emphasis on sportmanship, fair play and safety. The overall vision of MSJ Club is to encourage the kids and provide a pathway to develop their skills and confidence for future years.

Since the inception of the program, funding and costs incurred has been covered by the $10 yearly registration fee, Coordinators, donations from Parents and mostly by the Club. The intentions of the Coordinators is to seek a major yearly Sponsor  now that the Program is fully established and well attended to. The Coordinators is confident that The Program will secure a Sponsor to facilitate its program and much needed equipment .

The success of the program could not have been possible without the support and commitment of the Club’s Coaches who voluntarily offer their valuable time. I wish to acknowledge and single out the commitment of Gaono Schmidt who coordinated the weekly clinics with the support of Afa Lesa and Lepupa Taualagi.

I also wish to thank and acknowledge the support of Samoa Rugby Union and Rugby Leaque Samoa for the support with rugby balls and prizes.

I also wish to thank the President and the Executive Committee for the support  throughout the year and for the kids end of year function. This year, The Club presented to all the kids ‘Certificates of Participation’ which was the highlight of the year. Roll on 2010.
